Our VBS School Kits

Do you remember that we were collecting UMCOR school kits during spring break VBS? We talked a lot about how there were kids in Haiti whose schools were destroyed by the earthquake, and we know Jesus wants us to help those in need, Thank you so much for bringing supplies!

But, we have a question especially for those who brought school kit supplies for VBS. When Miz Liz called to find out about getting the paper, crayons, scissors and all of those things to Haiti, she was told there were also kids right here in Arkansas who need supplies for school. Miz Liz wanted everyone who donated school kits to have a chance to vote, so click on the poll on the right to let us know where you think we should send our school kits.

VOTE TODAY: Summer Family Outing

Miz Liz is making plans for summer fun and we want to know: would your family rather join us on a church outing to the Little Rock Zoo or to the Heifer Ranch in Perryville? You can vote in the poll on the right, or leave a comment to this post.

How Can Your Family Help Haiti?

Imagine not having a toothbrush or soap. Lots of people in Haiti are doing without those things we use everyday because of a earthquake. God asks us to help those in need- and here is a fun way you can help Haiti.

For about ten dollars, your family can pack up these basic supplies and bring them to church. From there the kits will be gathered and shipped to Haiti.

For individuals or groups that want to contribute basic necessities, UMCOR requests that the following NEW items be placed in a sealed one-gallon plastic bag.

  • 1 hand towel (15” x 25” up to 17” x 27”. No kitchen towels.
  • 1 washcloth
  • 1 comb (large and sturdy, not pocket-sized)
  • 1 nail file or fingernail clippers (no emery boards or toenail clippers)
  • 1 bath-size bar of soap (3 oz. and up)
  • 1 toothbrush (single brushes only in original wrapper, no child-size brushes)
  • 6 adhesive plastic strip sterile bandages
  • $1.00 to purchase toothpaste

(NOTE: Toothpaste is purchased in bulk to be added to health kits to ensure that the product does not expire before they are sent.)

Because the emergency kits are carefully planned to make them usable in the greatest number of situations and strict rules govern product entry into international countries, UMCOR requires that the kits contain only the requested items – nothing more.

Bring your assembled kits to church on Sunday and put them in the box in the atrium.

Sneak Peak at Next Sunday

This painting is a hint of the fun we'll have next Sunday. There will be two fancy words of the day:
annunciation and chiaroscuro. Don't miss it!

Baby Jesus' Scrapbook

During Sunday school, we found out some of baby Jesus' firsts that could have been recorded in his baby book: his first gifts, his first visitors, his first trip. See if your family can fill in the blanks to the rest of these baby scrapbook questions:

What city was baby born in?
What does baby's name mean?
How did Mom & Dad find out Baby was on the way?
What are some of Baby's nicknames?
